Songwriting from the Shadows

All of these games...
So I know it has been a little while since there was a new song...In fact it has been so long they have changed the way I have to upload videos so here is the link to youtube!
This song already means different things to different people so I am not going to tell you what it means to me. I hope you like it. The more songs I release from the shadows the harder I find it to let go.

Where Children Play
I was walking around the park where I grew and realised how much growing up I did there, some of the pictures used are from that park. Another factor on this song was talking to a young child who was desperate to grow up and I was trying to convince them that they should want to stay young forever.
The question is when does life really start for us?

The Sand
This is an incredibly old song that has just stayed in the shadows for about 3 or 4 years. I copyrighted it a long time back but felt like this deserved to have its moment in the spotlight (computer light). It is also incredibly fitting for this time of year. Everyone has moments in their life that they wish they could have again, but the question is...Would you do it any differently?

Badges
Yes, this is another song about war. Last year I went to Canada on holiday and while I was there I visited an exhibition about the Iraq war. There was some incredibly moving photographs on the wall about the desolation of the barracks that inspired me to write this song.
I should also mention at this point that all of the photography for the new songs are by the very talented Cath at UMakeItHappen Events. So a massive thanks go to her for letting me use them.
I really hope you like this song as it has a big place in my heart.

Goodbye Scarecrow
Happy 2013!!! It doesn't feel like year ago since I started putting my songs up on this page. I know that I haven't done it since the start of the last year but atleast it has given me time to write some more rather than just put one up here and there.
There isn't much to say about "Goodbye Scarecrow" except people who have heard seem to read different meanings into it. So instead of me telling you what it means to me, I just hope it means something to you.

Constant battles
Ok...So you probably figured that this wasn't gonna be an uplifting song from the title but I just hope it doesn't come across as a rant at the armed forces. That CATERGORICALLY is not what this is about. It is about the constant battles we go through in life. Whether that be getting out of bed and going to work in the morning or relationships. The backdrop of the New York skyline is to represent the place where you truly believe dreams can come true but how much struggling goes on under the surface.
I have fought with this song for about 4 years and I honestly wouldn't have put it up here except Miss Natalie Rendall requested it and (although she will probably kill me for all the changes I have made since she heard it last) this maybe the only time in my life someone requests one of my songs! So who am I to disappoint!

Dance in the Shadows
So I haven't put the lyrics with this one yet as I haven't found the right pictures to go with it. But don't worry I am working on it all the same I wanted to share the song with you invisible people as it is one I wrote a long time ago and I truly believe in it.
This is called "Shadow Dancer" as you can probably guess from the blog title this is an idea I feel strongly about. I think everybody should spend a little time in the shadows so they appreciate the light. However, people also need to take responsibility for creating their own light.
I have been guilty in the past for hiding away and watching other people shine and as much as I enjoy the safety of the dark it gets a little lonely.
"So come dance in the shadows with me!"
